"I'm lost!" thought Guy as the water pushed him over the side. Suddenly a strong arm stopped him. Hands tugged at him pulling him back into the ship. He felt himself being pushed down on the deck, pinned against the railing and someone who lay on top of him. Miri was still clinging to him.

The water continued to wash over them but he could not move. He felt safer now. The waves kept pounding them and Guy lost track of time.

Finally the storm died down, ending as fast as it began. Soon the figure on him stirred and got up. Guy could turn over now and for the first time saw that his rescuer was the bearded man. Father was nearby also.

"Are you all right?" the bearded man asked.

"I, I think so." Guy felt tears welling up in him. "I thought I was going to die!"

Father knelt down and took Miri in his arms. Miri was still frozen with fear. Father held her close. "Its over Miri. You're fine." father said in a soothing voice. "Look there, the sun is coming out!"

Miri looked up and for the first time the hint of a smile came to her face. "I was so scared Father!" she said in a weak voice.

Guy spoke up, "I tried but I just couldn't hold on. I felt so alone. I didn't know where you were."

"You've been through a lot. Come let's see if we can find something to dry off with." Father went over to where their things were and opened a waterproof bundle. "Look! It held up well. Just a little water in the edge. If all the bundles held up as well my cloths will be all right!"

He took out several large pieces of soft cloth, handed one to Guy and the bearded man. Then he dried Miri and wrapped her with it.

Father turned to the bearded man who was drying himself. "How can I thank you enough for saving my children? I just couldn't get there in time!

"I didn't think I could either so I prayed for Jesus to give me strength; and he did. I could hardly see but as I reached for them, they were in my hands. We really need to thank Jesus."

"Jesus? I don't understand. Who is Jesus?" Guy asked.

The bearded man looked down at Guy and smiled. "I am called Paul. Let me tell you a story." Paul told of the Jewish prophecy of a Messiah, and of Jesus of Nazareth. He told of his own early life as a persecutor of the followers of Jesus, and how he came to love Jesus on the road to Damascus.

"So you see," he continued, "if you have Jesus in your heart, you are never alone."

They continued to talk the rest of the day; Paul telling them the good news of this Messiah. Guy and Miri, and their father, listened and asked questions, learning more about Jesus.

Later in the evening, Guy and Miri were leaning on the rail watching the sun set. Father and Paul were still talking.

"You know Guy," Miri began, "I don't feel afraid now."

"Me neither," answered Guy. "I was feeling so alone and scared about going to Jerusalem. Now, that I know Jesus is with us, I know that everything will be fine."

This time Guy wasn't just saying it to make Miri feel better. He really believed it because he had Jesus in his heart and could face anything.

And Jesus said,

......, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
