Thanks to the Rebuild Dubrovnik Fund, this marvelous city
has been reclaimed as a United Nations World Heritage Site. We entered
the city through the Pile Gate and visit the amazing courtyard of the
Sponza Palace, known for its elaborate stone carvings. We saw the
Dominican church and monastery, as well as the impressive Rectors Palace
and the Church of St Blaise. The old city was delightful with its narrow
streets and interesting buildings. |

In the
Konavle region, a 45-minute drive south of Dubrovnik, we spent an
afternoon in an idyllic natural setting. At the Konavoski Dvori
Restaurant, perfectly situated in an old water mill next to the Ljuta
River, lunch on traditional delicacies. Local red and white wines, as
well as bottled water, are included. This was a most delightful spot on
the river. |
